The Vatican Diaries by John ThavisHere is something very timely title from the non-fiction shelf: The Vatican Diaries by John Thavis.  Thavis covered the Vatican for more than 25 as a journalist giving him unique insight into the city-state that leads all of the world’s Catholics.  He covers the election of Pope Benedict XVI, who was recently in the news for becoming the first pope to step down in over 600 years.  Other controversial topics that have affected the Catholic Church are also addressed such as birth control, AIDS, homosexuality and celibacy.  Thavis gives valuable insight to the people and politics that make the Vatican run.  This book is high recommended for anyone wanting to learn more about the Vatican.
