9780670025787_p0_v1_s260x420This French thriller is fresh off becoming a bestseller in Europe and is looking to achieve the same on this side of the pond.  Chief Inspector Franck Sharko and Detective Lucie Hannebelle find themselves working to solve a series of rather gruesome murders that are linked to an old experimental film that contain disturbing subliminal images.  It seems that anyone who has viewed the filmed recently has either been left in a disabled state or has been murdered.  Once teamed up on the case, the two detectives learn about a little-known phenomenon called Syndrome E, which is the inducement of hysteria and violence through sensory control.  This thriller has it all: engaging and likable characters, a lively plot, great settings, film references and just a little bit of romance.
