9780765327802_p0_v1_s260x420When Hurricane Katrina smashed the physical barriers in New Orleans, it also destroyed the mystical ones as well which allowed supernatural beings to flood the area.  In this installment of the series, half-elf wizard DJ Jaco and her weredog partner Alex Warin are sent to investigate claims that the local merpeople’s hunting grounds have contaminated water.  However, there are larger issues at work; merpeople and wizards despise each other stemming from an ugly war in the 1970s so when two wizards are found dead in the wetlands things get ugly fast.  Yes the premise is a little out there, yes you have to suspend some belief to get into it, but it is well worth it.  The plot is solid and the setting is well described.
