The Dragon’s Path by Daniel Abraham

06/20/2011

Finally there is the fantasy series opener, The Dragon’s Path by Daniel Abraham.  It starts predictably with an orphaned girl and a former great general escaping from city under siege thanks to the help of a traveling theater troupe.  However, that’s where the clichés and predictability end.  As the general and girl attempt to smuggle the treasure of a famed lost city through a war zone facing danger at every turn the author questions and explores fantasy-world assumptions to a degree just not seen in other books, all while telling a great adventure story.
