The Price of Everything by Eduardo Porter

According to Porter, everything we do, every choice we make in life has an associated cost.  What are the factors that drive the price of everything we buy?  Why do we pay without a second thought the price for some things, but complain bitterly about the price of other things?  All of this is intertwined as Porter sets out to explain the costs of marriage, death, mattresses and meat.
