Why the West Rules — For Now by Ian Morris

In this book, Ian Morris argues that since the mid-18th Century the Western world has dominated the cultural, military, and economical aspects of the globe.  But how did this come to be?  And with the emergence of the China and India how much longer can this last?  Morris makes the case the the answer to the second question can only be understand through answering the first.  He takes his readers on a journey of over 50,000 years of human history to explain how we arrived at this point.  Using this foundation, Morris makes some predictions about where things are going in the future.  A must read for any history buff or anyone interested in where the global power balance might be going.
