No Going Back by Lyndon Stacey

10/11/2010

Lyndon Stacey has written many mystery novels themed around the horse racing industry (think Dick Francis), but with this outing she turns in a different direction.  This is the first book in a potential series to former police dog handler, Daniel Whelan.  Disgraced and off the force, separated from his wife and young son, Daniel looks to start a new life in rural England hauling feed for farmers.  The quite new life for him and his former police dog is soon interrupted when he is asked to help search for two girls who are reported as missing by their father and uncle.  Soon the younger is found, but seems more terrified once she is found.  Then questions begin to arise.  Daniel puts his new job on the line to try to get to the bottom of this mystery.  A thrilling and engaging mystery that will leave readers hoping for more books featuring Daniel and his dog.
