Windward Passage by Jim Nisbet

09/22/2010

The sinking of a sailboat by a Caribbean island isn’t all that unusual, but the contents of the sunken boat certain are.  The captain of the doomed vessel is chained to the mast and buried amongst the hundreds of cocaine bricks is the DNA of a dead American president.  When word of the sinking reaches the captain’s sister and smuggler boss, both set out to find the boat and recover the contents before others do.  Now enter the political group headed by an elderly Russian gentleman who wants the DNA to clone their perfect president.  As crazy and outlandish as this plot sounds, Nisbet does a wonderful job of kneading this storyline into a tight, thrilling novel.
