The Widower’s Tale by Julia Glass

Retired Harvard Librarian, Percy Darling, is ready to live out the rest of his days at his quite suburban Boston home alone.  Still dealing with guilt from his wife’s death 30 years ago, he has no desire to branch out.  However his peaceful solitude is short lived when he agrees to let one of his daughters use his barn and yard for a day care.  Then relationships with his son begin to break apart and Percy shocks himself by falling for a single mother who’s child is one of the day care charges.  This is a beautifully crafted book that looks at how the choices of a lifetime can suddenly change when you least expect it.
