Juliet by Anne Fortier

08/26/2010

How could the events of the real life Romeo and Juliet that inspired Shakespeare’s famous work, impact a young woman seeking to solve the mystery of her strange inheritance in modern Italy?  Discovering that she is a decedent of Juliet, Julie finds those ancient families still feuding when she arrives with her inheritance–a key to a local safety deposit box.  The story flips back and forth from the past to Julie’s modern day adventure as she attempts to unravel that past.  She is helped by a Felliniesque contessa and a handsome young man who maybe her own Romeo, while mobsters, police and a mysterious motorcycle rider complicate matters.  One review calls this a ” heavily plotted love story that reads like a Da Vinci Code for the smart modern woman”.
